Library Reporting:  Alamo Area Library System

Project Name:  Memorial Envelopes

Materials Needed:  Envelopes and Printer

Approximate Cost and How Many Items Produced:  $200.00

Instructions:  These are envelopes that are printed and placed in funeral homes and local businesses.  The wording can vary regarding giving to the local library, but in the case of envelopes for funeral homes, the wording "in lieu of flowers a donation is made to the library" can be used.  The envelopes should be addressed to the Friends or the library with postage prepaid.  There is usually a form printed on the back for information on the person being honored and contact information for the family.  The family is sent a letter from the Friends or library acknowledging the memorial and you may want to advertise the donations without amounts in the local newspaper.

In Canton, the Methodist Church used this extensively in lieu of flowers.
